Quick Start - Adding , Connecting a Server - Downloading and Reading Articles

1. Add an Identity from Identities
2. Add a Server from Server -> Add Server
3. Select Identity , Encoding Type
4. Fill in Server's name , Port Number, Any Authentication Info and click Save
5. Get Group List by Group List  -> Get from Server
6. Select Groups from Newsgroups -> Add or Add Manually
7. Connect a Group by choosing Group and pressing Enter
8. When connected ,download articles from Get Headers -> 50 or whatever your choice is.
9. Read Messages by pressing Read

Quick Start Guide - Adding an Identity

You can define up to 3 Identities in the program. A Identity consists of a screen name, email name and settings.

Identity provides multi user profiles. Each identity can have separate settings and each of them can be used simultaneously.

When you subscribe for a new news server ,you shall select an identity that  you want to use for that server .When you try to send a post or send an email selected identity would be used.

*You need to configure each identity with a separate email account and a screen name.

** Check "Don't save password" option if you don't want your password to be saved as encrypted locally. Program will ask for your input each type you try to send email.

Tip: Select one of - Empty fields by using arrow keys then enter new values and click Save.

       

You can add 5 Different News Server. Each Server would have  its own settings.

•  Encoding :

You can choose different encodings for each news server ,default encoding uses your system's language as default encoding.

Supported Encodings:

Unicode - UTF-8, East-Central-West European ,Baltic ,Cyrillic ,Turkish ,Hebrew, Arabic ,Simplified Chinese ,Traditional Chinese, Japanese.

*Certain encodings may not be supported by your system.

You can use Unicode (UTF-8) ,since many of international servers use this type of encoding.

If you're unable to see characters in correct language ,you can try;

a) Changing encoding setting for that message .See Changing encoding type for messages

b)  Changing encoding setting for that server and downloading message again.

•  Identity  :

You can choose from predefined identities for a server.

•  Server Name  :

Enter the name of server you wish to connect.

Name can either be dns name or an ip address.

•  Server  Port  :

Port number, on which server will be connected. Default is 119.

•  Requires Login Checkbox:

Check this box if your server requires authentication.

•   Login Name :

Enter login name  for authentication.

•  Password:

Enter password for authentication.

•  Don't Store Article Bodies Checkbox:

Check this box if you don't want to store article bodies on program's database.

*You have to download messages online if you check this box.

**Saves space if you're short on disk space.

After you've entered  necessary information click Save and new server will be added .You can see new server on main Menu.

Tip: Selecting Encoding Type for a server determines default encoding for all articles that will be downloaded. Make some trial - error before downloading huge number of articles..

Quick Start Guide - Adding a News Group

A) You can download Group List From News Server and can add news groups from list.

1) Menu -> Group List -> Get From Server

2) Menu -> Newsgroups -> Add

B) You can import Group List From File and can add news groups from list.

Menu -> Group List -> Import

C) You can add group manually by selecting new server and selecting

Menu -> Newsgroups -> Add Manually

To subscribe Groups ,you can either download group list from server or import from a file.

*NewsliteSp downloads first 5000 groups on the server.

*File can be a list exported before ,which includes subscribed groups.

Or you can create your own Favorite List;

Simply create a txt file ;

Menu -> Group List -> Get From Server

NewsLiteSp will connect to selected server and download list of  newsgroups on the server.

You can cancel downloading of groups at any time by clicking over Click to Cancel Box .

*NewsliteSp downloads first 5000 groups on the server.

*You can manually add groups. See above.

Menu -> Group List -> Import

Select file and group list will be listed.

Quick Start Guide - Displaying a Group

In Main Menu select the newsgroup you wish to enter and Click Enter.

*It may take a short time to enter a group which has many articles downloaded.

*If you 're working online ,program will ask you if you want to connect to selected server.

** You can get online at anytime in Listing Mode

*** If you 're going online first time to enter a group, it may take a time to connect a group.

**** If you 're switching between  different server's groups it may take a time to connect a group.

***** It may take a short time to enter a group which has many articles downloaded.

Quick Start Guide - Retrieving Headers

In Main Menu select the newsgroup you wish to enter and Click Enter.

If you've recently subscribed to a group ,you can download article headers by selecting

Menu -> Get Headers -> 100 at a time or which amount you like.

Quick Start Guide - Sending a Reply to Group

Select the article you wish to reply and click Send -> Reply To Group.

Fill in Identity and other fields ,attach a file and /or import a text and click Send.

Ensure that you have a  permission to post to server.

Quick Start Guide - Sending a Reply to Sender

Select article ,which you want to send an email  to its sender.

Fill in Identity and other fields ,attach a file and /or import a text and click Send.

Program will ask for your input if you choose not to save your login password locally.

Quick Start Guide - Importing an Article

Select Import from Main Menu ,select import format and select file you want to import.

 In Listing View select article you wish to export  ,Select Actions II -> Export

Select export format and article will be exported to selected directory in selected format.

You can Save a Message you're composing whether you're sending to a news server or an email.

Select Actions I -> Save Message

I purchased  NewsLiteSp, Now What ?

After your purchase you'll be contacted by our customer service shortly via email and your Purchase Details (Name,OrderID,Activation Code) will sent to your registered address by email.

Please keep your Ordering Details in safe place as you may be requested to verify that info.

You'll be asked to activate your program on the opening screen of NewsLiteSp. NewsLiteSp will activate itself by connecting to our servers. Then your copy of NewsLiteSp will become fully functional.

IF you requested serial key via email ,copy your key to anyplace on your device and on NewsLiteSp's activation Dialog ,Select -> Paste Key  , program will browse for key file and complete activation.

I didn't get any email / I requested Activation by key file instead ,   but I didn't get my serial key?

Please ensure that PocketCafe.com is in white list and emails from PocketCafe.com isn't accounted as spam. You can check your junk mail folder if you're unsure. If you're still sure everything is OK on your side ,please re-request your Serial Key by sending your Ordering Details (Name,OrderID,Activation Code)  to support@pocketcafe.com

If your email has changed since you made the purchase please send email to support@pocketcafe.com with  your Ordering Details stating your condition from your new mail address.

What is an Activation Code ?

Activation code is an unique code for your device and software. You'll be asked to send your Activation code to get your Serial Key if you requested activation by email otherwise Activation would be completed automatically by program by connecting to our servers and verifying software online. You can find your Activation code in NewsLiteSp's Activation Dialog .

My key doesn't work?

 If it doesn't work ,please request help from support@pocketcafe.com with your details.

Reminder :

You'll have to activate program every time you reinstall program ,hard reset or install to a different device.

How can I register / activate program ?

To register /activate program ;

Enter

Menu -> Program -> Activation

Fill in Name, Email, Order ID / Purchase ID  fields.

Click Activate and program will connect to our servers and complete activation ,your copy of NewsliteSp will become fully functional after successful verification.

If you choose not to activate program online ,you'll need to send your Activation Key  to reqkey@pocketcafe.com to get your serial key for program.

My key doesn't work?

If your key file doesn't work, please try online activation and it's still not working  ,please request help from support@pocketcafe.com with your details.

Why does it require "Activation"  again ?

You'll have to activate program every time you reinstall program ,hard reset or install to a different device.

I activated program online ,but it asks for "Activation" again ?

Make sure you don't reinstall program or hard reset device  after you request for activation.

If it still doesn't work please take a moment to email us at

 If you choose not to activate program online ,we'll send your serial key via email as a file ( *.txt ).

You'll have to copy this key file to your device and let the program find this key by using "Paste Key Command".

NewsliteSp will browse for your key and will complete activation.

*You don't need to connect to internet if you use this option. All procedure is being done offline.

For your protection and prevent fraud we suspend activation requests, if it 's requested more than 10 times .

As soon as you confirm your request by email to  support@pocketcafe.com we'll  enable your activation requests.

I can't find my activation code on the program?

I got a new device, re-installed the program  or lost my serial key?

Please use online activation or request your key file from support@pocketcafe.com .

I lost my order id/transaction id ?

What does "Auto Connect" mean ?

In Listing Mode ,if you 're disconnected by a server while reading articles online - if  "Auto Connect" option is checked , program will connect automatically to selected server and download the article otherwise it'll ask for your confirmation to connect a server.

How does NewsliteSp Display Conversations?

Articles are sorted by Date. In a conversation, article with recent date will be displayed last.

To maximize screen view ,NewsliteSp displays conversations within 2 depths in a row.

E.g.

- First Article    Date : 1-1-2006

   - Second Article    Date : 1-6-2006

    Article header downloaded but article body hasn't been downloaded.

        Both Article header and body have been downloaded.

           Article is marked for Watch.

Why does NewsliteSp Display conversations only with 2 depths (follow-ups) in a row?

To maximize viewing size NewsLiteSp displays conversations only with 2 depths (follow-ups)

Other messages will follow the first reply in first-last date order .

How can I download articles for a Group ?

To download articles, use

Menu -> Get Headers -> 100 at a time or whatever you like.

*NewsliteSp will download  selected number of  article headers.

How many Servers / Groups can I add / subscribe?

You can subscribe to 5 different servers and 50 newsgroups per Server.

How many messages can NewsliteSp store per Group?

NewsliteSp v1.0 can store up to 500 messages in its database.

Sometimes it fails to retrieve all headers from a Group ,Why ?

Based on connection reliability ,there may occur a  disconnection when retrieving headers.

You should request retrieving headers again on such occasions.

Why does NewsliteSp try to connect on Listing View ?

Based on connection reliability ,there may occur a  disconnection when retrieving an article.

NewsliteSp will disconnect to server on receiving corrupted data.

NewsliteSp will try to connect to server to get requested article if Auto Connect option is checked.

I can't view correct characters in a message ?

Some character encodings may not be supported by your system. Since your device may not have necessary fonts to display the article ,you may see different characters. If you're sure your system supports the language encoding try changing the encoding of message by Message Encoding command.

After you select a different encoding  used for viewing an article you have to open the article again.

*If you still can't see correct characters try changing the encoding type for Server from News Server -> Edit Settings and download headers again.

How can I change the encoding for a message?

You can change encoding for displaying an article from

Menu -> Message Encoding -> Desired Encoding type .

How can I delete old Messages?

Delete command deletes articles from news group ,since a group has a certain limit of articles to be stored in database you need to delete articles time to time .

You may use Export command to save / export messages that are important.

*NewsLiteSp will delete selected number of  articles starting from  early date to recent date.

Tip : Select number of articles you wish to be deleted from Group ,if you want to delete All ,choose All.

Articles will be deleted from older to newer in order.

How can I save old Messages?

You may use Export command to save / export messages that are important.

Why can't  NewsliteSp connect to a  Server ?

Ensure that you have a connection..

Ensure that user login is correct.

How can I select a file or a directory to Import / Export / Save ?

In Browsing Menu ,highlight the file or directory you want to choose and click Select from Menu.

To enter any directory use Enter Command.

What are Import Options ?

You can import articles that you've saved before or have exported by using export command.

Select Menu -> Misc -> Import Article..

Select the file you wish to import

My Server has more than 5000 groups ,How can I add that is unlisted ?

When a news server has more than 5000 groups ,NewsliteSp would download firs 5000 groups.

You can add any specific group by Newsgroups -> Add Manually.

How can  I add an Attachment ?

Click Browse Button when composing a message and choose file you wish to attach.

To remove attach file ,just clear text from field.

How can I add a text / signature to a message ?

Click Browse Button when composing a message and choose file you wish to paste contents to.
